CAROLINE VICTORIA ROSE....CREATION IN SOFT PASTELS

As my painting begins, I listen to where the painting wants to go and respond to what I haveto create..this is a commission piece.
Once I receive the image of the rose I do a value sketch and start working..
I place her initials CVR inside the heart of the largest rose with pink pastel ...Using my mother's pastels I begin with nupastels in violet, alizarin crimson and deep blue..soft Unison in yellow, goldenrod, orange, mauve, and pink.. layering with vivid Terry Ludwig pastel in violet, green. blues..to complete the layers Dianne Townsend hand rolled soft pastel with gold flakes, soft green...the blue surrounding the roses is Tuscan sky..To complete the image I sharpened the edges..to train the eye to look into the rose..
